1. The Temple of Poseidon

2. Gortyna

This archaeological site is located on the island of Crete and is home to ruins from several different civilizations, including the Minoans, Romans, and Byzantines. The site also contains an interesting museum with exhibits on the history of the area.

3. Kavala

8. Samaria Gorge

Samaria Gorge is one of Europe’s longest hiking trails and offers stunning views of Greece’s rugged mountainside scenery. The trail can be completed in about 4-5 hours but takes longer if you stop along the way to take photos or enjoy the views.

9. Therissos

Therissos is located in northern Crete and is known for its beautiful hiking trails that wind through forests and mountain sides covered in wildflowers. This quaint village makes for a great day trip from Heraklion or Chania. Be sure to try some traditional dishes such as dakos (a type of Cretan meze) or apaki (smoked pork) while you’re in town.

10. Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus, the tallest mountain in Greece, has been featured in several Hollywood films including Clash of the Titans and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
