UK Citizens: How will Brexit affect your holidays to Europe

So, UK is about to leave the EU this month, right before the Easter holidays. If the UK leaves with Theresa May's deal,  this means there will be a transition period until the end of 2020. As a UK passport holder myself, I'm writing down how Brexit will affect UK citizens traveling within the EU however, life must go on as normal for British families - and that includes making plans for their holidays within the EU. Brexit Timeline: key dates in the UK’s divorce from the EU What travel documents will I need to travel? European Commission reported that UK citizens will not need a visa even if there's no deal however, you will need a Visa to travel to US after Brexit, whether there's a deal or not. NO DEAL: According to the UK Government, visitors will be able to stay for up to 90 days out of any 180-day period. You might need a visa before travel if you intend to stay in the Schengen area for more than 90 days throughout of that 180-day period. DEAL: EU citizens and UK nationals will continue to be able to travel freely with a passport or an ID card until the end of the transition period in 2020. Should I exchange holiday currencies before or after Brexit? The pound has lost its value against the euro and the US dollar. Nobody knows what is going to happen to the markets and the smallest piece of news can send the pound falling or rallying within minutes. A no-deal Brexit could see the pound weaken, while a deal may see it rise. However, to give yourself the best possible rate at the time, you may want to get a card that is designed for overseas use to cut the additional costs of fees and currency loading that are applied when you use your normal debit or credit cards abroad. The best solution is to get a FREE Revolut Card, a secure, mobile-based current account that allows you to hold, exchange and transfer without fees in 24 different [...]

Travel Writing Tips for Junior Travel Writers

Let’s get started. . . Whether you enjoy travelling and writing in your own blog or website as a hobby or seek a future career in the field of travel writing expertise the tips below will help you get started. It is significantly important to start off by saying what isn’t considered to be a piece of travel writing. Travel writing definitely isn’t writing about your family’s vacation or what you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy during your last journey. And of course, it isn’t writing about destinations so that you can travel for free as some people think. Travel writing is writing about places and different cultures, people and their manners and customs. It helps readers plan their own trips by giving tips on when and how to travel or giving advice on travelling. Your aim should be to spread your travel experiences and knowledge to others so that they can follow these suggestions or warn them not to make the same mistakes you did. However, try to focus more on the positive parts of your experiences as your job is to inspire people to travel not to prevent them. The key to a successful piece of travel writing is to always have the reader in mind. What do they need to know? Will this interest them? Is the information I am providing helpful? In order to answer these questions, you need to narrow down your target audience. For example, does your writing refer to young adults, families travelling with children, the elderly, people who seek adventure, or people who want to relax? By having your target audience always in mind, you will not lose track of your writing. If your target audience is ‘young adults who seek adventure’ you would probably like to mention places in the destination that will offer them the adventure they are looking for e.g. hiking, extreme sports, bars, and clubs. But if your target audience is ‘families travelling with children’ you will then have to include family-friendly places to visit, family excursions at the destination, etc. It is impossible to write a piece of [...]

European Shopping Destinations

This post is expected to raise interest to shopping lovers. Below you’ll find my favourite five European shopping destinations.  The following cities offer you the ability to make purchases ranging from cheap buys up to expensive designers – the choices are endless. London Oxford Street 1. London, UK London is one of the best places for shopping, specially during its big sales during the Christmas period. The best places are the famous Oxford Street, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden.  Other areas which are enjoyable for shopping include Russells Square (Brunswick) or Enfield Town (Palace Gardens). There are also many shopping malls e.g. Westfield and Hammersmith Broadway. Here you’ll find all the high-street shops with the best prices. Brent Cross shopping centre is another place you can go shopping in North West London. For more luxury purchases visit Knightsbridge and step into Harrods. Don't forget  Selfridge & Co in Oxford Street. For a more characteristic shopping taste visit Camden Markets in Camden Town. Sales Period: The big sales start on Boxing Day (26/12) and end around mid January.  Summer sales start around min June and end around mid July. If you’re in London beginning the sales period make sure to go shopping early in the morning. 2. Athens, Greece  McArthurGlen Athens Outlet I love shopping here. You can find anything from leather goods around Monastiraki area and its surrounding small markets - called Monastiraki Flea Area. You will find chic stores in Kolonaki and Tsakalof Street or by visiting Attica.  For more down to the earth shopping try Ermou Street and the Mall of Athens. If you wish to purchase branded clothing visit the McArthurGlen Athens outlet or the Factory Outlet.  I prefer McArthurGlen since it's big with many brands and it's surrounded by cafes and restaurants. Sales Period: Summer sales start mid-July and run throughout the end of August whilst winter sales begin mid-January and run throughout the end of February.   3. Brussels, Belgium Avenue Louise in Brussels In Brussels you can find all sorts of shops in Rue Neuve and Avenue Louise.
